Walk in the park

Today, the weather in the late afternoon was rather gloomy with rain clouds hovering in the sky. After some hesitation, I decided to press on with my usual weekend walk in the park.

The first butterfly picture taken was this Dark Brand Bush Brown (Mycalesis mineus macromalayana).

While looking among the Simpoh Air plants, I saw this Hawkmoth caterpillar (Enpinanga borneensis) high up beneath one of the leaf. This was the third time that I chanced upon such caterpillar in this park.

This was a tiny white moth on a Simpoh Air leaf.

A Common Palmfly (Elymnias hypermnestra agina) feasting on a ripen fruit of the Straits Rhododendron. There were at least three of them around the same vicinity.

Two of these insects were chasing each other and one of them finally settled down on a Rubber Tree's leaf. It looked like a spider-hunting warp.

A skipper was engrossed with the flower of the Blue Snakeweed. It might be a Chestnut Bob (Iambrix salsala salsala).

This Changeable Lizard (Calotes versicolor) was a common resident of our parks. It was holding onto the stem of the Garlic Vine.

At least three caterpillars of the Plain Tiger (Danaus chrysippus chrysippus) seen in my previous walk were still around. But, the host plant (Balloon Cotton Bush) did not had a single leaf left. The poor caterpillars now had to resort to eating the skin of the stem.

These tiny thread-like objects found under the leaf of a Lime plant were likely to be the eggs of a type of insect called lacewing.

This small butterfly on the tip of the Mile-a-minute Weed should be the Lesser Grass Blue (Zizina otis lampa).

The last creature spotted was this squirrel on a Rubber Tree. As the sky was getting dark and the lighting condition was worsen by the cloudy weather, this was the best shot that I could get from a distance.

It did rain for a while in the midst of the walk. Fortunately, it was not heavy enough to disrupt my walk.
